“Hi, my name is Catherine Zhang!”
I’m a 24 year old Australian born Chinese running towards a future filled with desserts and pastry. I hope this space can provide you with the recipes, tips and ideas to bring you the happiness desserts bring me!
Zumbo’s Just Desserts Season 2
In 2019, myself, as well as 9 other dessert makers entered Zumbo’s dessert factory to battle it out for the “Zumbo’s Just Desserts” champion title. I was challenged and my skills were tested amongst peers of equal and greater talent. However, it was in this environment I grew and found greater certainty of my future in the area of pastry.
After emerging successful I’m heading straight in that direction, follow me in the next big stage of my life!

What’s the plan now?
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Food and Nutrition Science at the University of Sydney I've been following my passion.
I worked in various pastry kitchens across Sydney for a few years before falling into recipe development, where I worked for 2 years.
Since then my social media has continued to grow, to the point where I'm able to make it my full-time work.
Alongside growing my social media following I opened a crepe food truck in Sydney, followed by a store in Perth. Kurepu is one of my biggest food business ventures thus far and it continues to grow. Check it out here!
Now I run multiple food blogs including zhangcatherine.com , dimsimlim.com & cooking with genius which focuses on South-East Asian cuisine, in particular Chinese wok cooking. In this space Vincent aka Dimsimlim, myself & Genius share Asian recipes for anyone to recreate in the comfort of their own home.
