Indulge in a warm, single-serve banana bread that’s perfectly cozy and irresistibly moist!
What is Single Serve Banana Bread?
Single serve banana bread is a delightful, personal-sized version of the classic banana bread, designed to satisfy your sweet tooth without the need for baking a whole loaf. It’s perfect for those moments when you crave a homemade treat but don’t want leftovers. This easy recipe is also known as a banana mug cake, which can also be made quickly in a microwave.
Where it is from
This delectable dessert has its roots in American cuisine. It is especially popular for its convenience and the ability to use up a single ripe banana, especially those with brown spots that are perfect for baking.
How to Make It
Creating your single serve banana bread is a breeze. You’ll need a few simple ingredients and a 10-ounce ramekin. Mix your wet ingredients, add the dry ones, and bake. In no time, you’ll have a warm, delicious treat that’s perfect for any time of the day. You can also try making it vegan by using almond milk and replacing the egg with a flax egg.

Ingredients
- Ripe banana: Adds natural sweetness and moisture.
- Egg: Binds the ingredients together, giving structure.
- Granulated sugar: Sweetens the bread.
- Vegetable oil: Keeps the bread moist.
- All-purpose flour: Provides the base structure.
- Baking soda: Helps the bread rise.
- Salt: Enhances the flavors.
- Chocolate chips: Optional, but adds a delightful chocolatey touch.

Tips for Perfect Single Serve Banana Bread
- Use ripe bananas for sweetness: The riper, the better. They add natural sugars and moisture.
- Leave some banana chunks for texture: Don’t over-mash; chunks give a pleasant bite.
- Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender: Mix just until combined to prevent a dense texture.
Serving Suggestions
- Pairings: Enjoy with peanut butter, almond butter, or fresh berries for a nutritious touch.
- Dessert twist: Serve with a scoop of ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, or drizzle with maple syrup for an indulgent treat.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Overmixing the batter: This can lead to a dense bread.
- Using under-ripe bananas: They lack sweetness and moisture.
- Incorrect baking time or temperature: Can result in an undercooked or burnt bread. Always keep an eye on it while baking.
Storing Instructions
- Room temperature: Keep in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Freezer: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap, then foil, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight at room temperature.
